Marvel has just unveiled a gay Spider-Man with a ‘fearless female identity’ and he is everything.

We associate Spider-Man with his iconic red and blue suit, but now character and costume designer Krisanka has revealed Web-Weaver from Edge of the Spider-Verse – and he’s somewhat of a fashion icon.

The illustrator talked about the inspiration for Web-Weaver and said that many of the high-fashion brands McQueen and Mugler came.

Web-Weaver debuts in Edge of Spider verse 5 and is described as a ‘not-so-gentle-mannered fashion designer at Van Dyne’ [industries]’, the company owned by Janet Van Dyne aka The Wasp.

Writer and editor Steve Fox helped create the character together and he bursts with excitement, writing on Twitter: ‘Surprise: I had the great gay honor of helping create Web-Weaver together, making his Edge debut or will make the Spider verses this September! ‘

He added that he wants to make sure the character is unique and not just a generalization or stereotype of the queer community.

‘Something I immediately realized when I started Web-Weaver is that he can not – and should – represent ALL gay men. No single character can, ‘I shared.

“His fearless female identity is central to who he is, but that’s not the STORY … that you can experience for yourself in September!”

Fans ate up the character’s design and streamed to Twitter to express their joy over the show.

A phenomenal design. Blown away, ‘tweeted one person.

‘Looks very nice. Can’t wait to read the story with their debut, “wrote another.

Others have compared the lewk to a Met Gala outfit, and we can totally see how the cosplay is already happening.

Web-Weaver will debut with three other versions of Spider-Man, including Spider-Man Noir and a Spider-Man Rex dinosaur hybrid – the possibilities are endless!

Release is scheduled for August 3rd, so there is not much time to wait until we can see the characters in all their glory.

The release follows an incredibly proud month for the world of comics, with new inclusive characters appearing in both Marvel and DC.

Marvel Comics, for example, announced their Pride-themed mini-series featuring Escapade, a trans superhero.

DC also went on to tell the story of Superman Jon Kent and his boyfriend, Jay Nakamura, after the character initially came out as bisexual last year.
