A couple builds a plunge pool in the yard for £ 6,000-save £ 10,000 by doing a DIY job

The couple built a £ 6,000 DIY plunge pool in the backyard, eliminating the need to use an “ugly” blue inflatable pool to cool off on a hot summer day.

Government secretary and interior influencer Eva Stuart, 26, and architect Jeroen, 29, who owns his own company, will tackle this DIY challenge for themselves instead of paying professionals. So I saved a little less than 10,000 pounds.

A couple from the eastern part of the Netherlands made a video of the entire process. This became a hot topic on TikTok and recorded over 1 million views.

Eva explained: “I came up with an idea in about five minutes. It’s a bit impulsive. But it’s a hot summer and I have a very ugly blue pool every year so I thought I could do better.

“We have been thinking about what the garden should look like for a very long time, and the plunge pool really became the centerpiece of our garden, creating a more intimate space besides that.

“Well, I didn’t think the video exploded like it did.

“Part 1 had 1.7 million views, thanks to the Indonesian people who enjoyed the way we dressed up a bit during the renovation.

“Part 2 is flying around the world, but I’m crazy about it being played over 5 million times already.

“Most of the comments are great and very kind.”

Transforming their home into their dream space has been an ongoing project since 2018 and the couple is destined to achieve everything they want in this home.

Eva said:’We have been renovating our home since 2018 when we bought it. Since then, we have done all the refurbishments ourselves.

“This year we started the ground floor renovation and finished it in the garden like the plunge pool we saw on TikTok.

“The cost of the plunge pool itself is about € 5500. There are no flagstones around it at this price (I think they are about € 1000).

“When you hire people to do this for you, you’ll come up with about € 15,000.”

Explaining the building process, she said:’We had to first lay the foundation and then build it with concrete blocks.

“I wanted to put an old olive tree next to the pool, but the pool lights and water striders are in the same place.

“I wanted to make an entire video about how we made it from start to finish. Hopefully it worked.

“And in addition to my father-in-law’s help, we all wanted to show that we did it ourselves. Hopefully, inspire others to do this too.”
