An 11-year-old boy with “enthusiasm for life” died sadly after being swept into the waters of Pembrokeshire.
After being rescued from the waters of West Angle Bay on Friday night, the unsaved Pembroke Dock paid tribute to Zach Thompson.
Zack climbed a rock and was playing with his brother and cousin when all three were carried underwater by the waves.
The other two were able to land, but Zack dived underwater.
He was airlifted from the beach, but Dyfed-Powys police confirmed that the young man had died at the University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff.
In honor, Pembroke Dock Community School said Zack had “a great enthusiasm for life” and “a popular and highly beloved character.”
“He was academically good, especially in math, and loved solving complex mental math challenges. He kept the staff on his toes,” he said.
The school said that sixth grade was also a talented sportsman to start secondary school in September.

The boy was an avid cricket player and was known for his “cheeky smile” and “enthusiasm for life.”
“Zack played very well in cricket lately and helped the school advance to the area finals scheduled to be played this week.
“He had a cheeky smile, was funny and was looking forward to the last few weeks of elementary school, summer vacation, and all the opportunities he had when he went to junior high school.
“Zack had a great deal of enthusiasm for life. One of his wonderful memories was when he was in third grade, which was Superhero Day.
“Zack came to school dressed as his favorite superhero, his mother.
“Not all superheroes wear cloaks,” Zack said.
“This is a very sad time for his family, and our love, thoughts, and prayers are in both his family and his wide range of friends, and I miss his big and mischievous personality. Probably.
“We are in grief. Zack is a lovely young man, an important student, and will be greatly missed.”
In the third year Zack went to school dressed as his mother for “Superhero Day”
A police spokesman said:
“A child named Zach Thompson, 11 years old in the Pembroke Dock area, was airlifted to a hospital and sadly died.”
A fundraiser was set up to help Zack’s family, currently raising over £ 12.00 and breaking the £ 5,000 goal.
“As a community, we are shocked and saddened to know that 11-year-old Zach Thompson died suddenly,” reads JustGiving’s statement.
“Zack was a beautiful, cheeky, sports enthusiast and incredible kid. His eyes and smiles brighten up in any room.
