“There have been a series of false reports of the deaths of major star actors such as Olu Jacobs, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, John Okafor (Ibu), Genevieve Nnaji, Pete Edochie and many others on social media to gain followers on their blogs and pages”, .
“We cannot cross our arms and watch this crime continue unabated. That is why the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, is working with relevant security agencies using advanced security equipment to track down, arrest and prosecute perpetrators,” the statement said.
“It is inhumane to write an obituary of someone alive or spread fake news to threaten an innocent person just to generate followers on social media.”
“The national president is advising those behind this incessant doom to desist from now on, before they are grabbed by the long arms of the law.”
