Actress ‘ER’ and ‘Law and Order’ die at 61 – The Hollywood Reporter

Mary Mara, an actress known for roles in ER, Criminal Minds, Ray Donovan and Law and Order, you died. She was 61.

In a report published Monday by New York State Police, officials confirmed that Mara’s body was found on the morning of June 26 in St. Louis. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent, NY was discovered. The preliminary investigation indicates that Mara drowned while swimming.

According to the report, there were no signs of foul play. Mara was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s office where an official cause of death will be determined by an autopsy. The investigation continues.

Mara starred in a myriad of television and film projects and made her debut in the 1989 television movie, The Preppie murder. Mara’s television credits include roles ER, Law and Order, Ray Donovan, Nash Bridges, lost, Shameless, Nip / Tuck, The Practice, Gideon’s Crossing, Star Trek: Enterprise and Dexter. Other guest roles include NYPD Blue, Hope & Gloria, Criminal mind, Joan van Arcadia, Bones, Ally McBeal, Judging Amy, The West Wing, 7th Heaven and monk.

She also starred in television movies In the blink of an eye and Charge: The McMartin trial. Movie credits include Love drink no. 9, matric farewell (2008), the Michael J. Fox star The hard way, Mr. Saturday night, True colors and Blue steel.

In addition to film and television, Mara has also performed on stage in New York’s Manhattan Theater Club productions. Child transport, Dreaming of a common language and Mad Forest, as well as in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of Twelfth Night and a Yale Repertory production of Ivanov.

Mara’s last appearance on screen was in the 2020 film break event.

Mara, born in Syracuse, NY, attended San Francisco State University and the Yale School of Drama.
