Wheeler Yuta is in the game of a lifetime tonight when he steps into Blood And Guts on a special edition of AEW Dynamite – but his mother will not watch.

The 25-year-old wrestler – who along with William Regal, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and newcomer Claudio Castagnoli is a member of the Blackpool Combat Club – will team up with Moxley, Claudio, Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz tonight against Chris. Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia and Jake Hager.

talk exclusively to Metro.co.ukYuta admitted he would not let his mother watch, and warned that the action would not be suitable for more sensitive audiences.

Asked if she was going to tune in, he laughed: ‘No, I would not recommend anyone’s mother watch. I would not recommend any child under the age of 14 or so to watch.

“This one is going to get messy, this one is going to get violent and ugly – so viewer’s discretion is advised!”

Yuta did not allow his mother to watch his brutal fight with Moxley earlier this year, so it is perhaps no surprise that he told her not to tune in tonight.

However, she ‘always’ supported his wrestling career, even if it took her a while to warm up to see for herself.

‘It’s funny, she was always supportive, but she never wrestled or watched anything. “Even if I looked at it, she would go into another room and it would just look at it,” he said as he reflected on his early years when he was a child.

‘But now, outside of the Moxley game, she’s watched everything I did in AEW. The real point where I was like, “now I know I have her”, was my dad texted me while I was at Super Juniors and he was like, “We know you’re not on the program, but your mother is still watching just in case ”

‘So she should enjoy it! But yeah, it was really cool to see her – I do not know if I want to call her a fan, but she’s a fan now! I think she’s a wrestling fan now! [laughs] It was very nice to see her come on this journey I was on as a child. ‘

He said: ‘She has always supported the dream a lot. I think she was always like, “Why don’t you become a doctor?” ‘

For Yuta, however, there was never any doubt in his mind that he would one day be a professional wrestler – and now he is doing exactly that for one of the largest companies in the world for a global audience.

“She always supported the dream a lot. I think she was always like, “Why don’t you become a doctor,” he smiled. [‘But] no it was always [the dream]. My senior quote in my yearbook was, “Pro wrestling is just a phase – Mom and Dad”.

It was always the thing I wanted to do. I do not know what I would have done. Like, I have a psychology degree, but I do not know what I would have done with it. I did not have a real plan for it. ‘

He beamed again, adding, “It was always, I’m just going to wrestle – and now I’m doing it!”

AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts will be broadcast tonight (June 29) at 01:00 on Fite TV.
