It is famous for being difficult to sleep on an airplane.

Unless you’ve invested in a good travel pillow (or if you’re in first class with a seat that turns into a bed), finding a comfortable position and staying there can be difficult.

However, bad sleep on flights will soon be a thing of the past for many Air New Zealand passengers.

This is because the airline has launched several new sleep pods for economy passengers.

Air New Zealand has announced eight new Dreamliners set to fly in 2024. An exciting new feature of these vessels is the “Sky Nest”, which allows customers to sleep flat for their journey.

With a total of 6 of these beds per plane, economy passengers can book 4-hour slots for long-haul flights.

Each bed includes a privacy curtain, USB charging and ventilation outlets and can be booked only once during the flight.

However, the cost of booking these special beds has not yet been announced.

Greg Foran, Air New Zealand’s Chief Executive Officer, said:

“We focused on sleep, comfort and health because we know how important it is for our customers to get a good rest and arrive.

“We wanted to give our economic customers the option to lie. That was the birth of Skynest.

“It will be a real game changer for an economical travel experience.”

The airline has also added care stations to Premium Economy Cabins and Economy Cabins. This allows passengers to stretch their legs and refresh with food and drink during the flight.
