Angela Bassett receives special honor at 25th Costume Designers Guild Awards

Lack Panther star Angela Bassett will receive a special honor at the 25th Costume Designers Guild Awards (CDGA), it has been announced.

The award-winning actress, who stars as Queen Ramonda in the blockbuster sequel, will receive the Spotlight Award at the annual ceremony next month.

The Spotlight Award honors an actor whose talent and career personify an enduring commitment to excellence, including a special sense of role and the importance of costume design.

Include past recipients Andrew garfield, Charlie Theron, Glen CloseKerry Washington, Kate BlanchettNaomi Watts, Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway and Halle Berry.

Bassett has already received acclaim for her role in Ryan Coogler’s Marvel movie, winning both a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Earlier this week, she was also nominated for an Academy Award, also for Best Supporting Actress.

Bassett is honored along with costume designers Deborah L Scott, who receives the Career Achievement Award, and Rachael M Stanley, who receives the Distinguished Service Award.

The CDGA celebrates excellence in short-form film, television, and costume design.

The 25th annual ceremony will take place live on Monday, February 27 at The Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
