Antonio Contea has accused Julian Nagelsmann of disrespect after he openly admitted he would be interested in donning Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.
The German giants are unlikely to sign a direct replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose long-drawn-out move to Barcelona was finally confirmed earlier this week and will be subject to new signing Sadio Mane and Serge Gnabry to fill the void left by the Fertile Pool.
Kane would come close to finding a similar replacement for Lewandowski, but he is out of reach this summer as he committed himself to Conte’s rebuilding project just 12 months after he was on the brink of moving to Manchester City.
Nagelsmann admitted on Friday that he is a big fan of the England captain and while he would prove too expensive in the current market, a move could not be ruled out in the future.
Very expensive, that’s the problem, but a brilliant player,” Kane’s Nagelsmann said. “One of the best strikers, maybe one of two or three strikers who can really play as a striker.
“The last few years he didn’t really play striker, he dropped to number 10 a bit, he can also play number 10.
“Very strong, brilliant with his head, he could score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga. But it will be hard for Bayern Munichwe’ll see what happens in the future.’
Meanwhile, Kane continued his excellent pre-season form on Saturday with two smart goals in the second half in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox, after which Conte was asked about Nagelsmann’s comments.
He said, ‘Honestly, I haven’t heard this. I’m definitely a coach who doesn’t talk about players from other teams. I do not know why [this happened].
“The situation at Tottenham is very clear. The plan is very clear at the club. Harry is part of the project. He is a very important part of the project and yes, just rumors.
“At the same time, I repeat that I don’t like to talk about players from another club. If I want to do something, I’m going to talk to the club, not through the media. I think it might be a bit disrespectful to the other club. This is my way.
“This is my way of dealing with the situation with other players.”
