Apple is reportedly in the process of developing a new Apple Watch model with a larger display and a more robust metal housing aimed at the extreme sports market.
The new Apple Watch will have a screen of almost 2 inches diagonal, which amounts to 7% more display area than Apple’s current wearables. Bloomberg reported Wednesday†
It will use a stronger metal material than aluminum, although it is not clear which specific metal it will use. The more robust design also includes a larger battery and a display with increased shatter resistance.
Bloomberg reports that the extreme sports model will be released along with a kickstand Apple Watch Series 8 which retains its 1.9-inch diagonal screen size. An entry level update Apple Watch SE stays with the current screen size of 1.78 inches.

All new Apple Watch models in 2022 will get an updated S8 processor that will reportedly deliver similar performance to the S7 chip. The rugged variant and the standard Apple Watch Series 8 will also have the ability to read a user’s body temperature up to detect feveralong with other health and fitness updates.
