Apple has taken its online Apple Store offline and is “making updates” ahead of the opening of M2 MacBook Air pre-orders from 5 a.m. Pacific Time.

After unveiling the new M2 MacBook Air at WWDC 2022, Apple only said it would ship in July. Company announced later it would start taking orders on July 8, and the first orders will be delivered a week later, Friday, July 15, 2022.

The new M2 MacBook Air has been completely redesigned and starts at $1,999 for the base model. With all possible customization options, it comes out to $2,499.

Usually Apple makes more of the two or three basic configurations and then offers custom options for adding more SSD storage, more RAM, or preinstalling software. It is very likely that these custom options will be the first to sell out.

The new MacBook Air is expected to see high demand, especially when compared to the other M2 Mac announced at WWDC. That 13-inch MacBook Pro has been generally poorly received, as a minor upgrade, compared to the MacBook Air’s revision.

In addition to a chassis redesign, the new M2 MacBook Air will include a pair of Thunderbolt ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and MagSafe with fast charging supported.
