Cynthia Bowman is Apple's newest Vice President of Inclusion and Diversity after a 17-year career at Bank of America.
Apple has seen some changes in the way it handles diversity and inclusion in recent years. The top executive task Chief People Officer was introduced in 2023 after splitting the role from Deirdre O'Brien, who now focuses exclusively on retail.
The reporting executive to the Chief People Officer is the Vice President of Inclusion and Diversity. According to a report by BloombergCynthia Bowman has stepped into the role.
“We are pleased that Cynthia Bowman will serve as Apple's next Vice President of Inclusion and Diversity,” an Apple spokesperson said in a statement. “Cynthia is an experienced leader in her field and deeply committed to the work we do to advance inclusivity and diversity at Apple.”
Bowman served as chief executive officer for diversity, inclusion and social responsibility during her tenure at Bank of America. Her career there lasted 17 years before she left earlier in 2024.
Apple's push for diversity and inclusion is one of the company's core pillars. It has a special website to showcase the efforts, although it has not been updated with new data since 2022.
