Data from the California DMV shows that Apple has registered 67 vehicles and 201 drivers for testing autonomous driving features on public roads.
The California DMV requires companies testing autonomous driving features to record important details, such as the number of drivers and vehicles used. Apple’s fleet hasn’t changed much since 2021but the number of drivers has been slowly increasing.
Apple recorded one crash in the first quarter of 2023, but it was a minor one. The tire and rim of the vehicle hit a curb and authorities were not involved.
The data shows that Apple remains committed to testing self-driving tools for cars. It is registered alongside other manufacturers such as Mercedes, Waymo, Tesla, Nvidia and Zoox.
