Don Cheadle’s Disney Plus series Armor Wars is still going on after being turned down for Marvel’s Phase 5 and Phase 6 announcements, so we can all rest easy.
Saturday’s Massive Marvel Presentation at Comic-Con Revealed The first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Foreveras well as the confirmation of two new avengers movies.
However, fans feared the worst after new details about Cheadle’s supposedly upcoming show Armor Wars were dropped.
Many expressed concerns that the drama had been quietly canned on social media, with one writing, “So that Don Cheadle show is still happening or….”
‘GUARD!!! Where the hell did Don Cheadle’s Armor Wars show go?! @MarvelStudios I need ANSWERS!!!’ asked another.
Fortunately, Armor Wars writer Yassir Lester confirmed that the highly anticipated project is still in the pipeline.
On Instagram Stories they wrote: ‘I promise it’s still coming out’.
News of Armor Wars was first teased earlier this year, with Cheadle hinting that it’s “an opportunity to really discover who [Rhodey] is in a way we haven’t had before.”
“The most exciting things are yet to come and those things were suggested in Endgame,” he also said of the series.
‘Where could this character go? What could be in store for him? It’s very early in the process for Armor Wars. We just hired my boy Yassir [Lester]which I am very excited about.
‘He wrote on Black Monday. Became friends with him, very close to him. Great guy, lots of good ideas. Honestly, we’re still trying to crack the spine of what it’s going to be and chop it up into pieces.
“I couldn’t give you the answers if you wanted them, because we’re in ‘clay mode’ right now.”
The official Disney Plus website also lists the series, along with a synopsis that reads: “Armor Wars, based on the classic Marvel comic book series, is coming to Disney Plus starring Don Cheadle as James Rhodes, aka War Machine, who must endure what happens when Tony Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands.’
