Gabriel Martelli is on the verge of signing a massive contract extension with Arsenal, according to reports, ending speculation over his future.
The star striker’s current contract expires in 2024, although the Gunners had the option to extend it for a further two years.
Given the Brazil international’s incredible form this season, there was talk of several European giants preparing a move for the 21-year-old, including Barcelona.
But that will all be put to bed very soon, with The athletic Martinelli has agreed new terms with Arsenal and will sign a new contract that will keep him at the Emirates until 2027.
Martinelli was signed by Unai Emery in 2019 and has developed into an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad this season, helping The Gunners to their title challenge.
So far this season, he has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 19 league matches.
Arsenal currently top the Premier League table, five points ahead of Manchester City with one game left to play against the Citizens.
On Friday night, the Gunners travel to the Etihad for their FA Cup fourth round clash against Pep Gaurdiola’s side.
And despite being almost always present for his team, Martinelli is on the bench for the game, with Leandro Trossard taking his place on the left wing in January.
This marks the Belgian’s full debut for the club following his £20 million move from Brighton.
