Arsenal working on a deal to acquire Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City†
The Gunners have made the 25-year-old a priority after missing out on Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, who is set to join Manchester United†
the athletic Arsenal are in contact with City, who have already done business with Premier League champions this summer and have signed Gabriel Jesus.
City are open to cashing in on Zinchenko, provided their valuation is met.
Arsenal have yet to meet that asking price, but talks are said to continue with Mikel Arteta to reunite with the versatile 25-year-old.
The two worked together during Arteta’s time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City and are said to have maintained a strong relationship.
Zinchenko mainly played as a left-back under Guardiola, but is regularly deployed in midfield to play for his country.
As Arteta seeks reinforcements from the left-back, reports earlier this summer also suggested the Gunners boss is willing to promise Zinchenko the chance to play in midfield.
Arsenal have already expanded their attacking options in Jesus, Fabio Vieira and youngster Marquinhos this summer, while goalkeeper Matt Turner also arrives in north London.
The club are also still interested in bringing Youri Tielemans to the club, with the Belgium international in the final year of his contract with Leicester City.
Arsenal made a number of bids for Ajax defender Martinez in recent weeks.
The club is said to have identified him as an option that Kieran Tierney could also cover as a left-back and centre-back.
However, the Argentina international is now on the eve of a move to Old Trafford. United have agreed a £46 million deal with Ajax and the deal is expected to be finalized shortly.
