The Israeli army on Tuesday denied attacking a tent camp west of the city of Rafah after Gaza health authorities said Israeli tank shelling had killed at least 21 people there, in what Israel has designated as a civilian evacuation zone.
Earlier, despite an appeal from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Israeli tanks advanced for the first time into the heart of Rafah after a night of heavy bombardment, while Spain, Ireland and Norway officially recognized a Palestinian state, a move that has drawn international attention. Israel's isolation deepens.
