Top streamers xQcAdept and MoistCr1TiKaL are among those criticizing Atrioc for buying fake nudes from female creators.
Twitch Streamer Atrioc has come under fire after it became known that he visited a pornographic website that sells deepfakes of fellow content creators.
Such websites usually create and distribute these photos without the consent of the person depicted, and since deepfakes remain largely unregulated, there’s not much that victims can do about it.
In this case, Atrioc was allegedly caught viewing inappropriate images of fellow streamers Pokimane, Maya Higa and QTCinderella after his viewers noticed an open tab in his browser leading to the deepfake website.
He later posted a video of himself admitting the situation and apologizing to the women along with his wife.
Atrioc also claimed it was a case of “morbid curiosity,” having recently expressed an interest in artificial intelligence and deepfakes.
Despite his apology, the situation quickly escalated as more and more viewers discovered the website and the inappropriate images began circulating on social media.
QTCinderella and Sweet Anita, whose faces also appeared on the site, have since issued statements condemning Atrioc, the website, and anyone who chooses to purchase such content.
‘Being seen ‘naked’ against your will is not part of this job,’ QTCinderella tweeted.
On the other hand, Sweet Anita told how someone, despite a conscious choice not to engage in sex work, still found a way to ‘ask her body’ without her permission.
Fellow streamer Adept, responded to Sweet Anita’s tweet, offering kind words for any streamer affected by the situation.
She also stressed that these images are fake and that “this is someone else’s perversion.”
Other streamers also shared that they went through a similar experience, with Mayumi revealing she was only 17 years old when creeps started, including her face in deepfakes.
After commenting on Atrioc’s video on stream, xQc spoke out against those who claim deepfakes come with streamer or public figure territory, because the women “didn’t ask for it.”
He compared it to whacking and random people coming to his house, since people in those situations also used the same argument.
xQc also took this as an opportunity to apologize for “jokingly” sniffing Pokimane’s seat via Twitch, when he commented on some of her content.
“That’s why I shouldn’t have made that joke that day…I get it, I have no excuse. It was damn stupid,” he said.
Streamer MoistCr1TiKaL also spoke quickly about the Atrioc situation during the live broadcast after his viewers asked him to comment on it.
‘Not much to talk about. I think the obvious thing is that everyone can recognize that it’s not good,” he said.
As many streamers have pointed out, even though the body seen in the nude deepfakes doesn’t actually belong to the women depicted, their existence is still extremely disturbing.
Celebrities are often victims of this technology, with Billy EilishSelena Gomez and Kim Kardashian’s faces are transplanted onto random bodies in deepfake porn videos.
