Police respond to a major robbery at a jeweler in St Johns on Wednesday afternoon.
Two assailants, armed with a pistol and a hammer, robbed a jewelry store in an Auckland shopping center on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The assailants entered the store around 1pm with threats, carrying a firearm and smashing several cabinets with a hammer, a spokesman said.
They then fled Meadowbank Shopping Center in a car.
There were no injuries and there was no indication that the gun was fired.
“Police are investigating the incident on the spot,” said Acting Superintendent Matt Child.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact us. They can contact the police on 105 quoting the reference number P051216700.”
