Eddie Jones‘, did what they had to do to improve it last week, after a disappointing opener in Perth, and a win in the decider would lift the mood somewhat after a poor 2022 so far. Owen Farrell‘s kicking was largely responsible for England’s victory in Brisbane, which ended a four-game losing streak.
After a poor Six Nations campaign was followed by a hammering from the Barbarians in the lead up to this tour to Australia, a series defeat to his home country would put even more pressure on Jones in the run-up to next year’s World Cup.

Team news Australia vs England
Jones recalls Danny Care’s experience as one of three changes to his base XV for Saturday’s series decider.
The victory in Brisbane came at the expense of England. After losing Tom Curry to a concussion in Perth, Maro Itoje and Sam Underhill also suffered brain injuries towards the end of the tour, stretching resources up front. Northampton captain Lewis Ludlam, who has been impressive from the bench in both first two tests, will become the third man to wear the number 7 jersey for England in this series.
With Charlie Ewels and Joe Launchbury injured, Itoje’s absence is more difficult to cover, but Leicester’s Ollie Chessum takes the second row for his first test start, alongside Jonny Hill.
Nick Isiekwe and Jack Willis are ready to make their first appearances of the tour from the couch. Wasps flanker Willis was named to the bench last week but withdrew with an injury sustained in training. Last week Jones overhauled his backline, but this week he’s limited himself to one tactical change. Jack van Poortvliet, who made his first start and won man of the match, drops to the bench, with veteran Care at the start.
At 21, Van Poortvliet is the eldest back on the English bench, as he stands alongside London Irish 19-year-olds Will Joseph and Henry Arundell, who have both made their debuts on this tour.
Australia has also been forced to shake hands. Coach Dave Rennie has made four changes to his base XV, and more to his bench.
Reece Hodge comes in at fullback after Australia lost three No15s to injury, while Nick Frost and Harry Wilson join the pack. Veteran James Slipper starts on the loosehead.
James O’Connor is thrown off the bench, but Suliasi Vunivalu – a former NRL star – could make his debut from the back.
“We missed that [intensity] with the Wallabies for our first 20 minutes, so if we can bring that up and silence the Pommies, we’ll do a good job,’ said Vunivalu.

Australia vs England Prediction
England got off to a furious start in the second Test and although they eventually got the job done, they let Australia back into the game and were almost penalized for doing so.
That was no different from the opening game of the series, where England were once again in a strong position, but this time they let it slip completely and fell away in the later stages. Jones side have not been able to finish matches when they have been on top.
Another intense first 20 minutes or so in Sydney can be expected from England, although Australia has made it clear that this time they will be ready to match that.
Both sides are struggling with injuries, with England in particular appearing in the lead. That may prove to be the difference. Poor discipline is likely to be a determining factor and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the expected aggression and intensity cross the line.
Australia to win a tight match and win the series.
