Baby P’s murderous mother has been released from prison for the first time in seven years after a government attempt to block her release was rejected.

Tracey Connelly, who is now 40 and weighs more than 20 pounds, was removed from HM Prison Low Newton in County Durham on Wednesday to begin a secretive new life in a bail bond hostel, The sun

The angry mother will be subject to 20 licensing terms, including wearing an electronic tag and disclosing all of her relationships.

She will also have her internet usage monitored and forced to obey a curfew.

On Thursday, the Justice Department confirmed her release from prison.

In March, the Parole Board announced that she had been released due to a low risk of recidivism.

But within hours, Justice Minister Dominic Raab promised to block the move, describing the infamous case as “distressing.”

Connelly was sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison in 2009 for causing or allowing the death of her tortured 17-month-old son Peter in a horrific case that shocked the nation.

Connelly was jailed in the Old Bailey in 2009 for causing or permitting the death of her 17-month-old son Peter at their home in Tottenham, north London, on 3 August 2007.

She was released in 2013, but was recalled to prison in 2015 for selling nude photos of herself and violating her license terms by “developing intimate personal relationships” online.

Mr Raab said Connelly’s actions were “pure evil” and added: “The decision to release her demonstrates why the Probation Commission needs a fundamental overhaul – including a ministerial audit for the worst offenders – so that it serves the public. and protects.’

Connelly’s lover Steven Barker was sentenced to a minimum of 32 years in prison in 2009 for torturing the 17-month-old boy to death, while his brother, Jason Owen, was sentenced to six years in prison for letting the toddler die.

A series of assessments identified missed opportunities for officials to save the toddler’s life if they had responded correctly to warning signs.

Three of the children, including Peter, were on Haringey’s Child Protection Register for fear of neglect.

Connelly, who covered up her son’s abuse, was jailed indefinitely in 2009 for a minimum of five years after admitting to causing or allowing the death of her son Peter.

She was subsequently released on license in 2013, but was later recalled to prison in 2015 after it was revealed that she had sent indecent photos of herself to people obsessed with her fame.

The Parole Board heard her case a third time in November 2019, after previous reviews in 2015 and 2017, and refused to either release her or move her to open prison.

In 2019, the convict launched a bid to be released from prison so she could try to spend Christmas with her loved one.

She fell in love with a 37-year-old insurance salesman named Paul and told fellow inmates that she wanted to move in with him in Reading.

The abuser said she believed she was ready to leave prison as a ‘changed woman’.

Connelly insisted that her relationship was real because she had known him for many years.
