Nintendo Switch exclusive Bayonetta 3 is definitely coming out this year and will be out… on the same day as Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
Rarely has a rumor turned out to be true as quickly as this one. Nothing but this morning it was noted that Bayonetta 3 had been given the correct age ratings on Nintendo’s websites and now, just a few hours later, they have confirmed the final release date.
Age ratings tend to be a pretty cast-iron source of information and, as suggested, it looks like the game will be out sooner than expected, on October 28.
That’s exactly the same day as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and while that game isn’t on Switch, it seems like an odd choice if Nintendo wanted to maximize the game’s visibility, especially since the rest of the season is so quiet and this is a rare adult exclusive.
However, most publishers seem to lose all common sense when choosing release dates, so it’s better to focus on the good news, which is that the date was announced via a new trailer.
It’s hard to say exactly what’s going on in the trailer – which is exactly how it should be – but the plot seems to involve some sort of multiverse angle, which has been all the rage lately.
That ties in with previous theories that there’s more than one Bayonetta in play, possibly including the short-haired woman with the grappling hook.
This is a major release for PlatinumGames, as while they are usually hailed as one of the best action game developers in the world, they have recently had a slew of underpowered games, culminating in the horrific The Fall of Babylon†
Showing no signs of nervousness, however, they followed up the release of the new trailer by tweeting that there’s an option to disable nudity in the game, via something called “naive angel mode.”
Knowing Platinum, that could easily be taken as a joke, but Bayonetta famously fights in the nude, as what appears to be her clothing is actually her hair. When using certain moves, her naked body underneath reveals itself, although in previous games you’ve only seen a hint of derriere.
Relax, the witch is back and sexier than ever🌙
We’ve added the revolutionary “Naive Angel Mode” to Bayonetta 3 for more people to enjoy it to the fullest👍
By turning it on, you can just play in the living room without worrying about what’s on the screen… we think😅#Bayonetta3 pic.twitter.com/SEs3vqrdYc
