BBC breakfast was taken off the air on Sunday morning due to technical problems.
The company’s flagship program, which was scheduled to start at 6 a.m., was temporarily taken off the air due to “repairs” and replaced by The Travel Show.
The episode then started at 7am with presenters Roger Johnson and Sima Kotecha at the helm.
While the duo did not state the reason for the delay during the program, they did shed some light on what was happening on social media.
Roger explained the issues alongside a photo of the tech team hard at work getting the show back on track, writing: ‘Making repairs to @BBCBreakfast computers…while enjoying The Travel Show! Back online at 7 o’clock.’
When asked if he’d spilled his coffee all over the equipment, Roger added: ‘In reality, the makeshift mini music stand holding the screen has collapsed!’
His co-host Sima also spoke about the chaos behind the scenes.
Posting a selfie of herself and Roger, she wrote: ‘Great to be back with @RogerJ_01 .. it’s been a while. And thanks to these guys for their last minute DIY after the laptop collapse – eek!’
Earlier this month, Jon Kay entertained BBC Breakfast viewers after he was splashed live in the air by a pigeon.
Jon, who was recently announced as the show’s new regular host from Monday to Wednesday, reported from Cambridge when the incident took place.
After asking weather host Carol Kirkwood for her top tips for staying cool during the heatwave, he asked, “Carol, do you have any tips for removing bird droppings from linen jackets? Because I just got hit by a pigeon…’
When he ended his segment, he joked, “I’m going to dab my coat and will try to sort that out, in the meantime I’m just glad it wasn’t a swan, to be honest, it was just a dove.”
