BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst updated her followers online after her son was rushed to hospital on Saturday.

The morning hostess, 41, missed a charity event over the weekend ‘but life took a different turn’ for her as she rushed to Wythenshawe Hospital in Greater Manchester.

After uploading a photo of her son’s cast online, she tweeted, “I was supposed to walk 26 miles for Alzheimer’s Society today, but life took a different turn.”

‘Five hours in the ER isn’t so bad if the paid staff is attentive, friendly and keeps you informed. I raised as we went LEFT.’

Fans rushed to voice their concerns for Nina, with one writing: ‘Hi Nina oh no that’s not what you need on a sunny Saturday morning (well it’s sunny here for now!!), wishing your son a speedy recovery. Bet he was a brave boy and what a cool bandage.

‘I hope you can get some miles back on for such a good cause soon.’

The mother of two later notified everyone of her son’s well-being and shared a photo of his decorated cast.

“TBF walked close by trying to find money, break a note* and escape the A&E parking lot,” she wrote.

*Thank you @marksandspencer for the mandatory purchase. Really stylish.'(sic)

In 2018, Nina started reporting on a freelance basis for BBC Breakfast, stepping in when regular hosts were unavailable.

In October 2020, she was appointed as the chief business presenter and has reappeared on screen following Dan Walker’s departure to Channel 5.

BBC Breakfast is broadcast daily from 6am on BBC One.
