BBC commentator Robyn Cowen hit Alan Sugar with a perfect comeback at England’s 2022 Euro against Norway, following his much-criticized comments over the weekend.

Sugar disagreed with coverage of the European Championships on Saturday, unhappy with what he saw as a lack of male commentators in the action.

“I watch women’s football and notice that ALL the commentators are women,” Sugar wrote on Saturday.

“I also note that when men’s football is played there is a symbolic female commentator to cover the broadcasters. If I complain, I have to get a male commentator in women’s football.”

Oddly enough, Sugar’s tweet appeared online while Jonathan Pearce had to comment on Saturday night during the 1-1 draw between the Netherlands and Sweden.

While England started on Monday by beating Norway in their second game of the tournamentArsenal legend Ian Wright and current Gunners Women boss Jonas Eidevall were both on expert duty.

And Cowen, calling the action from Brighton Community Stadium, was quick to remind Sugar that one of their “symbolic men” was in attendance.

‘A beautiful recording from one of our studio guests, Jonas Eidevall. One of our symbolic men. Good evening Lord Sugar,’ Cowen said towards the end of the first half.

Sugar has already received a huge backlash for his comments, with Gabby Logan quickly putting him in his place after Saturday’s tweet.

“We’ve got plenty of men working on this tournament, Lord Sugar, don’t worry you won’t be wiped out,” Logan said in a response to his tweet.

The Lionesses secured their place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a record-breaking 8-0 win over Norway.
