A suspected pedophile has been evicted from a Travelodge where he lived among guests with children for three months, according to reports.
The retiree is reportedly wanted by police in Poland investigating child sexual abuse and is currently fighting extradition charges.
After appearing before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, he was released on bail and allowed to stay at one of the chain’s hotels in Bedford.
It is still unclear which one he had lived in, as the company has four locations in the city.
But the man has since been removed after the Sunday Express contacted the company about him.
According to the newspaper, he was allowed to stay at the hotel after being arrested under a European arrest warrant last September.
Another man, who is fighting extradition to Romania, where he is wanted on suspicion of embezzlement, was also allowed to stay in a Travelodge in London.
After being arrested last year, the man, who is in his thirties, was placed in a London hotel.
He was originally supposed to reside at a different address in the capital, but the court changed this to the Travelodge in Docklands Central between April and May.
In a statement to the newspaper, Travelodge confirmed that both men no longer live in their hotels.
A spokesperson for the chain says: ‘The safety of our customers and employees is of paramount importance to us.
“We can confirm that we have not entered into any agreements to provide lodging on bail and that these two individuals are no longer staying at our hotels.
“We do work with a number of third parties and have stipulated that we do not accept bookings from persons who are allegedly sex offenders or pedophiles.”
Bedford Borough Council also told paper staff to make checks with the police before placing anyone in temporary housing.
“If someone has a criminal conviction, they will be accommodated appropriately,” said a spokesperson.
“We wouldn’t knowingly put a convicted sex offender in a hotel.”
