Don’t let that latest freebie influence your decision-making too much, though — it’s worth doing some math to make sure you switch to a phone plan that will save you money in the long run.
We also like Buymobiles’ unlimited plan as it gives a shorter contract for just £16 a month, although the cashback on this is much less than three direct.
If you want to keep your contracts longer, a 12 month option may not be for you as there is no guarantee that you will be able to renew it for such a low price.
How long is a SIM-only subscription with Three?
Direct from Three, there are, well, three different contract lengths for SIM plans.
Depending on your choice, you can sign up for a package of 1 month, 12 months or 24 months.
Keep in mind, though: the shorter the contract, the more you can expect to pay.
So while a 24 month subscription of 30GB costs £14 per month, the equivalent one month subscription costs £24 per month.
That’s a decent increase, but no surprise: Three just wants your business as long as possible.
Other third-party providers often do 12 or 24 month contracts, omitting the one month option.
Why choose a sim only deal?
Sim-only plans are a good choice if you already have a paid phone.
Without those expenses to factor in, you can easily keep your phone expenses relatively low each month with a sim-only plan.
