England’s second largest fire and rescue service has revealed that firefighters from at least four stations have been called in to deal with an incident in the city.

Fire crews from Smethwick, Ladywood, Handsworth and Woodgate gathered in response to what WMFR described as a “major fire”.

The incident reportedly took place on Bearwood Road, Smethwick.

According to the fire service, the crew members were on the scene within five minutes.

Four victims have been reported and are being assessed by colleagues from the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

One victim was transported to hospital, according to a later social media update.

WMFR also warned residents to avoid the area where possible.

However, in an update uploaded at 11:15 p.m., WMFR claimed that firefighters had the blaze under control.
