BIZZARE photos show the aftermath of fish raining from the sky in India after a monsoon.
A bystander described what he saw as “unique” after the marine life fell from above.
Footage shows several fish writhing on the ground as local residents in Telangana state remain soaked from the heavy rain.
The area has suffered heavy rainfall and flooding in recent weeks after a red alert was issued in 12 districts for five days.
National highways have been flooded, causing problems for emergency services trying to reach ravaged towns and cities.
Last weekend, onlookers were shocked by the aftermath of a torrential downpour as the roads and streets were littered with fish, apb reported.
A witness, who shared a video on Twitter, wrote: “Amid heavy rain in Telangana, the people of Jagtial town witnessed something unique.
“People from Sai Nagar in Jagtial town were surprised to find fish ‘rain’ from the sky both Friday and Saturday.”
He added: “Raining fish is a rare weather phenomenon called ‘animal rain’ that happens when small aquatic animals such as frogs, crabs and small fish are swept into water spouts.”
India is at the height of the monsoon season, which officials say has already claimed the lives of at least two villagers.
Dams have reportedly been opened in some places to relieve pressure on the cities, fearing more rain is on the way.
Amit Prakash Yadav, Regional Commissioner of Municipalities, said: “In view of increasing water levels and security, the national highway from Ahmedabad to Mumbai has been closed.
“We’ll open the highway as soon as the water level drops.”

The monsoon – or rainy season – in the region normally lasts from June to September and disappears in early October.
