Manager Gary O’Neil has already backed players to the tune of £28.7 million.

Lorient winger Dango Ouattara, 20, took part in a £19.7 million transfer.

Bristol City trump Antoine Semenyo followed suit on Friday with the Ghana World Cup star costing just under £10million.

And goalkeeper Darren Randolph transferred from West Ham to the South Coast club on a free transfer.

Villareal star Jackson was set to be the next attacking reinforcement but the 21-year-old failed a medical, according to transfer guru Fabricius Roman.

Jackson failed a medical after doctors determined he would be out of action until March 10 with a hamstring injury – not the expected return date of February 10.

That would give the player just 12 games to help Bournemouth retain their place in the Premier League Premier League.

The Cherries currently occupy 18th place and if they finish there or below they will fall into the Championship.
