The minister pointed out that in the past two years the British government had already removed more than 400 hundred barriers to trade across more than 70 countries.

She said: “We have streamlined and simplified more than 6,000 tariff lines, which has reduced the cost to businesses and helped with the cost of living.

“We have also created a new export strategy to support UK business and developed a new UK Export Finance mission. We are deploying more knowledgeable staff to spot opportunities and support our firms to win business. ”

The announcement follows success in agreeing to a new trade agreement with Australia with those with Canada and New Zealand also concluded.

The UK is also in talks to join the fastest growing trade bloc, the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP) which currently consists of 11 countries.
