The BRICS alliance will invite Palestine to attend the 2024 summit in October. The 16th summit is scheduled for October 22-24 in Russia’s Kazan region. For the first time, the expanded nine-member alliance will come to the table to discuss issues including the economy, trade and currency.

Palestine can expect an invitation to attend the BRICS 2024 summit this month. Russia is working on the process to have the Middle Eastern country participate in the summit. “We certainly also discussed bilateral relations, because we have a very long-standing strategic relationship with Russia,” said the leader of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.
“We also talked about the BRICS and have reached a verbal agreement that Palestine will be invited (2024 summit) in the outreach format,” said Abbas.

Abbas explained that the BRICS members maintain friendly relations with Palestine and will pay special attention to the country during the 2024 summit. “It will all be as relevant as possible, given that the countries of this association are all friendly towards Palestine,” said Abbas.
BRICS: Palestine could discuss Israel and Gaza situation
Palestine could discuss the conflict between Israel and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip at the BRICS 2024 summit. Israel and Palestine have been locked in a dispute for decades and tensions escalated after the attacks in October 2023. The aggressive attacks made headlines and led to the loss of thousands of lives, including women, children and the elderly.

BRICS member Iran has also intervened in the war and helped Palestine defeat Israel. While the US and other Western allies have sided with Israel, most BRICS countries have shown solidarity with Palestine. The upcoming 2024 BRICS summit will provide a platform for Palestine to address the alarming situation to the world.
