Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan is already filming for series three, but along the way she has to deal with unexpected side effects from the regency era.
The Derry Girls actress plays Penelope Featheringtonas well as Lady Whistledown – the outrageous gossip of the barrel, and the upcoming season is finally her time to shine.
But while filming for the new series, Nicola wasn’t quite prepared for what happens when he gets dressed in a regency dress, which is unfortunate sunburn and tan lines.
“And so…the Bridgertan* returns,” she teased on her Instagram stories, alongside a photo of her with a sunburnt chest.
“You get sunburn when you wear a regency dress.”
Behind-the-scenes clips of Bridgerton’s cast recently teased that filming for season three was well and truly underway.
Penelope finally gets her love story with Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) while familiar faces Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey also reprise their roles.
The short clip features snippets of fan favorite cast members raising three fingers as a signifier of the new season.
At the end, actress Nicola, whose character will play a major role, says from a carriage, ‘Bridgerton season 3 has officially started filming, are you coming in?’, while her co-star Luke replied, ‘Let’s go.’
While the season 2 finale left her in an awkward position, as viewers were heartbroken for the lonely Penelope pining for Colin, Nicola hinted that the upcoming chapter may have a lot more to offer in the way of romance.
The fourth book in the seriesRomancing Mister Bridgerton, explores their blossoming romance, so it’s inevitable (in true Bridgerton style) that the two characters will share some steamy scenes in the future.
But Nicola has mixed feelings about filming those sex scenes.
“It’s exciting and terrifying,” she admitted to Digital Spy and other media outlets.
Knowing that her love story with Colin was coming soon, she recalled having joked about it with her co-star Luke in the past, but as the time draws closer, “it just gets less and less funny and intimidating.”
After reading the book and knowing what’s to come, Nicola added, “So I know it’s going to be extremely spicy in that scene. I already know things that are going to happen. So I’m like, no, we’re good. We’re doing well. It’s intense.’
She even hinted at a carriage scene from the book that offers romance and some lust, saying, “It’s just when they kind of argue, and then it all gets really romantic, let’s say, but I think it’s like that.” will be. a good scene in the show.
“It scares me to think about filming, but I think it would be really great.”
We can’t wait!
