Slow-moving heavy rain and thunderstorms could cause flooding and disruption across the country warning area until 10 p.m.

Splashing water and flash flooding can lead to problems the driving conditions and some road closures.

Where floods or lightning strikes occur, there is a risk of them delays and some cancellations of train and bus services.

There may be power outages and other services to some homes companies could be lost.

Buildings can quickly become flooded, causing damage from flooding, lightning, hail or strong winds.

There is a small chance that fast-flowing or deep floodwaters will pose a “life hazard,” forecasters said.

About 30 to 40 mm of rain may fall in a few hours, along with lightning strikes.

Met Office expert Dan Harris said: “The focus for heavier showers is expected to shift to Scotland and possibly the north-east of England.

“These can be slow, with the most severe causing temporary, localized problems such as flooded roads.”

He added: “We are monitoring the weather warning situation.

“Stay up to date with the latest warnings and forecasts from the Met Office if you have plans this Bank Holiday weekend.”
