Raphinha rejects Chelsea
Raphinha has turned down a move to Chelsea, according to reports in Spain.
Leeds have accepted a £ 60m bid from Chelsea, but Sport claims Raphinha only has eyes for Barcelona.
The Spanish giants are working on a deal, but Leeds are unlikely to recover as much as Chelsea’s offer.
Malacia sets for United medical
Manchester United are closing their first summer signing.
Tyrell Malacia will fly in for his medical treatment on Sunday before finalizing his £ 13 million move from Feyenoord.
Official confirmation should come Monday or Tuesday.
Spurs have appointed Steinsson
Tottenham have confirmed the appointment of former Iceland international Gretar Steinsson as the club’s new performance director.
The 40-year-old former defender had a game in the Premier League with Bolton and also played for the Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
After his retirement, Steinsson took on a role as technical director at Fleetwood and later joined Everton as head of recruitment and development.
Steinsson joins Spurs from the Icelandic Football Association, where he worked as a technical adviser.
Spurs could start Tielemans bid late
Tottenham were backed to launch a bid for Youri Tielemans late in the transfer window.
Standard Sport understand there is currently no interest from Spurs in the Leicester midfielder.
However, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge suggests that view may change.
“Do not be surprised if they might look at him again,” Bridge told Spurs fan channel host Chris Cowlin. “There were always people at the club who admired him, even in the Poch era.
“He is an attacking midfielder that Tottenham would like to look at … he is someone I have heard not to rule out completely in the future. I heard it a few weeks ago and said, ‘I thought he was going to Arsenal?’, And they said, ‘No, no, not at the moment’.
Arsenal lose to Brentford for Hickey
Arsenal are dealing with Raphinha, Lisandro Martinex and now Aaron Hickey.
The left-back was presented as a target for the Gunners, but a £ 14 million deal was agreed between Brentford and Bologna.
The Scotland international, according to Italian shop Il Resto del Carlino, will have his Bees medically next week.
Lenglet flies in for Spurs medical
Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet is on his way to London to complete a medical with Tottenham.
This is according to reports in Spain, which adds that Barça gave the center-back permission not to show up on Monday for the start of pre-season training.
Spurs are expected to pay around 60 per cent of Lenglet’s wages and should have the option to sign Lenglet permanently for around £ 5m.
Chelsea want Ronaldo
Chelsea and Bayern are the top two candidates to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, reports the Times.
Ronaldo, who earns around £ 500,000 a week, has one year left on his contract at Manchester United, although the club has the option to extend for a further season.
Both Bayern and Chelsea have discussed signing the player, and new Blues owner Todd Boehly met with Ronaldo’s representatives Gestifute last month with the superstar one topic on the table.
Ronaldo asks to leave Man United
Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to be sold by Manchester United this summer, reports the Times.
The 37-year-old is not interested in playing Europa League football and wants to move to a Champions League club, having played in Europe’s leading club competition for the previous 19 seasons.
It remains to be seen whether a club will come in for him.

The end, it seems, could be in sight with the news that Barcelona have increased their bid to £ 51 million, according to journalist Gerard Romero.
It’s still shy of Chelsea’s £ 60m bid, but with both Raphinha and his agent Deco – yes, him previously from Barca and Chelsea! – If you want a Camp Nou move, Leeds are on the verge of accepting the offer.
bowyer fired
Birmingham have parted ways with manager Lee Bowyer amid uncertainty over a proposed takeover at St Andrew’s.
Bowyer has been at the helm of affairs for 16 months, leading the club to safety after his appointment in March 2020 and then leading them to 20th place in the Sky Bet Championship last quarter.
But at a time when the club’s owners wanted to sell, Bowyer’s contract was terminated.
“The board believes this is the necessary action and acted quickly before the 2022/23 campaign,” reads a club statement.
