Built in Great Britain! Red Bull unveils £5m UK-made hypercar to rival F1 car performance | Science | News

The Advanced Technologies arm of Red Bull’s Formula 1 team has announced it will launch its own £5million hypercar, expected to be rolled out in 2025. Red Bull’s Milton Keynes factory will produce this limited edition two-seat RB-17, with just 50 cars built for civilian use rather than professional Formula 1 racing. However, the super-rich customers who buy these hypercars will not be able to show them off on the street, as the car is not legal on the road and for track use only.

Together, the £250m worth of cars, with VAT pushing the figure to £300m, will be sold worldwide, adding to the UK’s export coffers once rolled out in 2025.

Red Bull Racing shared a teaser for the car, tweeting; “Red Bull Advanced Technologies announces details of its first hypercar project designed, developed and manufactured entirely in-house.”

Meanwhile, the Factory Now initiative greeted this announcement, tweeting: “BUILT IN BRITAIN: Red Bull Advanced Technologies to build a new hypercar in the UK.

“The Adrian Newey-designed RB17 will be built at the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton Keynes, creating more than 100 jobs.”

This exclusive vehicle will run on a powerful V8 turbo hybrid that will deliver more than 1,100 hp, bringing the vehicle closer to the performance of an F1 car.

Customers purchasing the car will also receive access to Red Bull’s simulator facilities, vehicle program development and track training.

Red Bull F1 team principal Christian Horner said: “The RB17 marks an important milestone in the evolution of Red Bull Advanced Technologies, which is now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a series production car at our Red Bull Technology Campus.

“Furthermore, the RB17 is the first time a Red Bull-branded car has been made available to collectors.”
