the man who killed a PCSO while walking her dog in the woods near her home in Knows is convicted.

Callum Wheeler, 22, used a rail jack — a tool used to lift train tracks — to beat mother-of-two Julia James to death as she walked through fields and woods near the back of her home in Snowdown.

He was found guilty on May 16 and will appear on Canterbury Crown Court for sentencing.

Wheeler was seen roaming the countryside with the gun the day before the 53-year-old died, and in the days following as hundreds of police officers scoured the area for clues.

Upon his arrest, Wheeler told officers, “Sometimes I do things I can’t control” and “you can’t go into the woods and expect to be safe”.

He also told a member of the police that he would return to the forest and rape and kill a woman, and that Mrs. James deserved to die.

It took a jury of eight women and four men at Canterbury Crown Court less than an hour and ten minutes to find him guilty of the murder of Mrs James.

Wheeler, who is being held in… Broadmoor high-security psychiatric hospital in Berkshiredid not respond when the conviction was pronounced.

When asked to stand to hear the verdict, Wheeler did not stand up himself, but was instead held up by staff members in the dock.

He will appear in person when the verdict is handed down, the court said.
