Cameron Diaz Makes Hollywood Comeback – 8 Years After Retiring

Ameron Diaz has sent Hollywood into a meltdown after she appeared to confirm she was returning to acting.

It’s been eight years since she left Hollywood.

But the 49-year-old movie star, known for her starring roles in films like Charlie’s Angels and My Sister’s Keeper, suggested she return to the silver screen for an upcoming film alongside Jamie Foxx.

Confirming the exciting news, Foxx revealed that he recorded a conversation with Diaz discussing her impending return to acting.

The duo, who have worked together before, will star in a Netflix comedy film titled Back in Action. a new movie from the director of Horrible Bosses, Seth Gordon.

This marks the first time Diaz is returning to acting after an eight-year hiatus.

Why did Cameron Diaz retire?

Her last film was in 2014, when she starred in an adaptation of Annie.

Although she didn’t confirm her retirement until 2018, the actor appeared to have stepped back from her job a little earlier.

Diaz would later explain that she was taking a break from acting to focus on her personal life.

In 2019, she also welcomed a daughter via surrogate with her husband Benji Madden and is busy with her family.

Speaking about her decision to retire from acting, she has also previously admitted that she didn’t feel like she was taking care of herself.

However, she told Gwyneth Paltrow in 2020 that she was thrilled to “start over”.

She said at the time: “I think you just build a life when you’re in your twenties and thirties, and then in your forties, as you know, it’s a different thing…

“But here I am. I’m in my forties, (and) I’m starting all over again.”

Diaz added: “I just decided I wanted other things out of my life.

“I had worked so hard and made movies for so long, and it’s such a grind. I haven’t really made room for my personal life. And then I decided to stop making movies and really focus on my personal life, my personal relationships with my family, with my friends.”

Why did Cameron Diaz return to acting?

Diaz has not yet officially commented on the news of her ‘non-retirement’.

However, in the recording shared by Foxx, The Holiday star admitted that she was “anxious” but “excited”.

“I’m so nervous right now. I’m walking across the room,” Diaz told Foxx.

Luckily, her boyfriend had Tom Brady on the phone to help Diaz with some tips on “not retiring.”

“I was talking to Jamie and he said you need some tips on how to retire,” Brady said. “I’m relatively successful in canceling my retirement.”

Diaz then confessed: “Honestly, just what I needed.”
