Camilla Parker-Bowles praised by fans for ‘stepping up’ during Commonwealth visit | Royal | News

The praise comes before Camilla takes on the role of queen consort when Prince Charles takes the throne after the queen. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall hosted a dinner with Commonwealth government leaders at the Marriott Hotel in Rwanda on June 24.

The Duchess stepped out in a dazzling floor-length cobalt blue dress with lace sleeves and diamond drop earrings.

The ensemble also had a Garter Star badge after her appointment as Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter in December and the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal fans praised the Duchess on Instagram, saying, “Camilla looks absolutely stunning, gorgeous and elegant.”

Another said: “Duchess Camilla of Cornwall looks beautiful, she must attract attention even now. Some people become even more remarkable with age.”

@Carolina_villa01 added: “Our beloved Duchess was beaming; Their Royal Highnesses Charles and Camilla make a matchless couple.”

Speaking at dinner, the Prince of Wales said: “Our Commonwealth family must have something quite unique.

“After all, more and more countries are looking for membership.”

He continued: “Perhaps, Excellencies, they have discovered that the country with the highest percentage of women parliamentarians belongs to the Commonwealth (here in Rwanda namely); that the world’s fastest male and female runners (not to mention the marathon world record holders) are Commonwealth Nationals, that Reggae, Calypso, Afrobeats, High-life and Hip-Life, Bollywood and Nollywood all hail from the Commonwealth; that the Commonwealth has given the world some of its best food – curry, Jollof rice, maple syrup, Roti, Jerk chicken, Nasi Goreng and dare I say fish and chips!”

The table decor at dinner included napkins from Nyamirambo Women’s Center, Mats at the table center used the colors of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and were made by women from Mayange Reconciliation Village.

The eye-catchers for the tables were traditional woven baskets from Rwanda, called ‘peace baskets’, woven by Irebe women with eco-friendly materials.

During the visit, the future Queen Consort became Patron of Book Aid International to give more people access to books and attended an event of violence against women and girls among many other events.

An Instagram user, working under the handle @dddrnbsn, praised Camilla: “I’m really proud of Camilla, she seems to have gotten just the right role!”

Another fan, @Exo3514, added: “What a wonderful cultural ambassador the Prince of Wales is. With deft nods and nods to Rwandan culture, from table decoration to fashion.

“Bravo to your team too.

“There are many opportunities here to connect with the youth and budding entrepreneurs of the Commonwealth.

“The Prince’s Trust and even Duchy Originals are great templates.

“Lovely soft diplomacy where you managed to make everything about Rwanda and the Commonwealth, not about you.

“Highly reflected in your understated but alert and curious demeanor.

“Bravo Duke, Duchess and Team.”
