A five-week-old spectacled owl has captured the hearts of zookeepers.
The graceful creature was bred at the Scottish Owl Center in West Lothian.
The species is the only species of owl that lives permanently in the Amazon rainforest. The parents and brother of this owl also live in the center.
Trystan Williams, 50, chief custodian at the Scottish Owl Centre, said the newcomer was gentle and curious about the world.
“We wouldn’t know the sex until it’s fully grown after 12 weeks,” he said. “If you show it to people, it keeps it calm and makes the perfect owl ambassador.”
If you place it among a collection of fluffy toys, it’s easy to mistake the real owl for a fake one – can you see it?
