Cardano cooks several updates, says IOG . technical architect

Duncan Coutts, Cardano’s IOG chief technical architect, says the team is working on several upgrades. Cardano’s team has been coming up with a lot of updates to its blockchain lately. Duncan Coutts spoke recently about several of these updates taking place behind the curtain. IOG is the development company behind Cardano.

He stated that there are several developments in the pipeline that will change the face of Cardano and have a major impact on the community. At Cardano, the team focuses mainly on improving scalability, speed and interoperability.

Let’s talk about the Cardano EVM side chain

Cardano’s EVM is a fully decentralized, scalable solution built by the IOG. The EVM sidechain is being imported to improve the scalability of various projects building on the Cardano blockchain.

The EVM side chain will improve Cardano’s interoperability. This allows data transfer from one network to different networks. Sidechains coupled with bridging protocols will help embed better freedom of data movement.

The EVM sidechain is the first sidechain created by IOG and made available with the intention of giving Solidity developers access to Cardano. The Solidity developer community will be able to create DApps on a cheaper and more energy efficient platform than proof-of-work blockchain thanks to the EVM sidechain.

Peer-to-peer networking

The team foresees decentralization with peer-to-peer networks. Cardano has three main pillars when it comes to decentralization. That is block production, governance and physical decentralization.

Cardano, which is powered by distributed nodes, is primarily operated by ring pool operators. To ensure decentralization, there must be reliable communication between nodes. Peer-to-peer networks help eliminate the connectivity framework and create direct communication between peers.

Cardano scales with Input endorsers

The ADA team uses Input endorsers to scale its blockchain in 2022. Input endorsers are all about speed and improving block propagation consistency and allowing high transaction speeds.

The team is trying to achieve this with Ouroboros, a PoS consensus protocol for the blockchain. This is mandatory for the successful implementation of input endorsers. A new level of the Ouroboros called Leios is being developed by IOG.

The most important update of all, the Vasil hard fork, is the team’s highly anticipated update. The update is all about providing better support for DeFi applications and in turn driving better adoption and growth. The team communicates the updates regularly to keep the community informed about the launch of Vasil.
