TL;DR
- Montblanc has posted a series of videos showing us what Summit 3 is all about.
- We also get our first look at Wear OS 3 on a non-Samsung smartwatch.
- The device is the first to receive the new FastPair function.
The Montblanc Summit 3 is the only other smart watch to show Wear OS 3 apart from the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. It’s been almost a year since Google revamped its watch software platform. We finally get a wearable with the renewed Wear OS. Unfortunately, it is not something that many people can afford.
The Montblanc Summit 3 is an expensive affair for $1,290. However, it certainly looks slick. The company has now listed the smartwatch and the price on its website and also has a number of how-to videos on his YouTube channel, allowing us to better see what Wear OS 3 looks like on a non-Samsung watch. We’re also getting confirmation of the Summit 3’s features, which we didn’t know before when the device was first released announced.
The Montblanc Summit 3 gets a 1.28-inch round AMOLED display with a resolution of 416 x 416, the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus chip, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB storage, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, Wi-Fi and NFC for Google pay. There are three pushers on the side, including one on the rotating crown, a programmable one and one for launching apps.
The Summit 3 will be compatible with both iOS and Android. This means that even the Pixel watch could have iOS compatibility as it will also run on the new Wear OS platform.
In the box you get a rubber sports belt, an extra calf leather belt, a charging station, a USB cable and some manuals.
Wear OS 3 to the Montblanc Summit 3
Montblanc has released some videos on how the Summit 3 functions, and we can immediately see a few differences with Samsung’s One UI watch.
For starters, users need to swipe up on the screen to view the notifications instead of sliding right on the Galaxy Watch.
The Summit 3 is also the first Wear OS smartwatch with FastPair. A video posted by the company shows how the feature allows users to instantly pair the smartwatch with their Android phones by simply placing them side by side.
Other how-to videos for the Summit 3 show the smartwatch’s various fitness and health features. It gets a heart rate sensor, blood oxygen monitoring, stress measurement and sleep monitoring. It also includes a microphone for calls, a barometer, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and an ambient light sensor.
