Chelsea’s goal was excellent and summed up the skills of their Scottish midfielder Erin Cuthbert. She won the ball with a strong tackle, nutmeg Lyon’s Damaris Egurrola, then rolled a perfectly weighted, no-look pass into the path of Reiten, who deflected her shot into the corner.
The only worrying note for Chelsea was a first-half injury to England centre-back Millie Bright, who limped off uncomfortably after being treated twice on the pitch. That could also be a concern for the Lionesses, who will host friendlies against Brazil and Australia in April as their World Cup preparations continue.
