Chelsea it looks like we’ll miss the chanting of Sevilla ace Jules Kunde after the Frenchman agreed personal terms with Barcelona about a move to the Camp Nou.
The 23-year-old was desperate to join the Blues last summer but Chelsea refused to activate a £67million clause in his contract, which was Sevilla’s asking price.
Chelsea have maintained their interest for the past 12 months and they were expected to give a new boost to Kunde this summer, especially after the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
But Gerard Romero – who brought news of Christensen’s move to Barcelona – says the Catalans have now won the race for Kounde as well.
It is alleged that Kunde has agreed a salary and contract with Barcelona and that all that remains is for the Spaniards to agree a fee with Sevilla.
Barcelona’s financial difficulties prevent them from activating Kunde’s release clause, but they will try to sign a player to lower the price.
Memphis Depay could be offered to Sevilla as the club are in need of a striker following Anthony Martial’s departure.
Chelsea are nearing a transfer for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, with the Blues willing to pay up to £40million for the Senegalese ace.
Thomas Tuchel wants at least one central defender this summer and it remains to be seen if they will try to match Barcelona for Kounde’s signature.
The Blues will begrudgingly allow Cesar Azpilicueta to leave Stamford Bridge, though they want to get back the £7million they paid for him ten years ago.
The Spaniard has agreed on a two-year contract with Barcelona.
