KIDS in the north leaves school with worse test results than in the south. This reduces your chances of being at the top of the university.
Compared to the north, many children in the south may get three or more higher grade A levels.
Last year’s results showed that six of the ten best municipalities were in London, two in the southeast and the other two in Trafford, York and Manchester.
One in six earned three or more A-stars in the best performing areas, compared to one in 300 in parts of the north.
This figure supports Oxford and Cambridge data showing that Home County students are floating in thousands of places.
In eight years, only 28 students from five municipalities (Salford, Halton, Sandwell, Noseley, and Northeast Lincolnshire) have been assigned to elite institutions, compared to 1,867 in Hertfordshire.
This allows children in the South to follow the path to their most popular career.
Christopher Magaburn, Chair of the Real Education Campaign, said:
“The north-south disparity in educational background is an unforgivable failure of our school system.”
A spokesman for the Ministry of Education said additional support and funding was provided to schools in need.
