The director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Christopher Wray, spoke with Ken McCallum, chief of military intelligence Section 5 (MI5) at the intelligence agency’s headquarters in London on Wednesday about the threat posed by China. Wray even suggested that Beijing had learned of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking of the Chinese threat to Taiwan, the FBI chief said Beijing was looking for ways to protect its economy from potential sanctions.
Mr Wray said, “We call that kind of behavior a clue.”
The pair also accused the Chinese Communist Party of a “blister” attempt to hack and steal Western advances in technology and research.
They also claimed that Beijing was using the democratic, media and justice systems of the West to its own advantage.

Mr McCallum added: “The most groundbreaking challenge we face comes from the Chinese Communist Party.
“It is secretly exerting pressure all over the world.
“This may feel abstract. But it’s real and it’s urgent.
“We need to talk about it. We must take action.’
According to Sky News, MI5 has more than doubled its “previously limited effort” against “Chinese worrying activity” since 2018.
It also claimed it now conducts seven times as many investigations.
Mr. McCallum explained: “We intend to grow that much again, while also continuing to fight against Russian and Iranian covert threats.”
However, he also revealed that a doubling would occur in the next “handful of years”.
