Chloe Lattanzi shared some heartbreaking words about her late mother, Olivia Newton Johnat the The Grease Star State Monument on Sunday.
Chloe, 37, was joined in the star-studded celebration of Olivia’s life by the likes of Dannii Minogue, Prime Minister Daniel Andrews, Paul Hogan and Delta Goodrem, who also shared some moving words about Olivia.
The music icon and actress died in August at the age of 73 then at her adopted home in California a long battle with cancer.
Speaking at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall over the weekend, Chloe, who was Olivia’s only child, confessed that she “feels like a little girl who’s lost without her mum.”
She added in part, “I’m standing here so desperate I want to feel strong and confident and speak eloquently, but the truth is I feel like a little girl lost without her mother.”
She was my safe place, my guide, my biggest fan and the earth beneath my feet. I know she’s right here beside me and inside me. I can hear her voice.’
According to to Mail OnlineChloe continued, “I love laughing with my mom. We shared the same chatter. She didn’t tell lame jokes, but she laughed the loudest. My mother could find beauty in everything.’
Meanwhile, singer Delta, 38, described the late icon Olivia as “a light for the whole industry.”
It is estimated that about 2,300 people attended the service, which opened with a rendition of Olivia’s famous song Grace and Gratitude.
About the moment he met his late wife, Olivia’s husband John Easterling said, “I met Olivia about 30 years ago through my friends Jim and Nancy. And I remember she came to a presentation I did in Malibu.
“Then we talked for a while about rainforest ecology and national plants and medicines and recognized that there were many similarities in our thoughts and philosophies.
“The day was getting late and she asked me to stay the night at the boarding house and I did.”
After Olivia’s death, there was a huge outpouring of love from all over the world when the news broke of her Grease co-stars and in her native Australia.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews at the time suggested there could be a state funeral or memorial for the actor, who died of stage four breast cancer, saying they would “talk to the family and be as respectful as possible.”
