Chris Stuart, the BBC Radio 2 DJ and the man behind quiz show Only Connect, has died aged 73.
Announcer Stuart, who was also a commentator at Princess Diana’s funeral, was known as one of the broadcaster’s ‘real greats’.
The BBC confirmed Stuart’s death in a statement, paying tribute to Kate Phillips, director of Unscripted.
“We are shocked at the passing of Chris Stuart, creator and executive producer of one of the most popular BBC quiz shows, Only Connect, and former presenter on both BBC Radio Wales and the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show,” she said. †
“He was an extremely talented and bright man and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. So many people have benefited from him and learned their trade, he leaves an incredible legacy.”
More to come.
