Would you like to live in a historic church with a home cinema and playroom? Well, maybe you can.

A 19th century church with full planning permission and the potential to become a luxury home is up for auction.

The historic Sheffield property located on Kilvey Road, St Thomas has the potential to be converted into an executive house with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, games room and home cinema.

There are also plans for an upstairs mezzanine overlooking the kitchen.

The detached property, once known as All Saints Church, offers a generous garden and parking garage and comes with planning permission obtained for an external building.

While the church appears to be ready for a modern remodel, historical relics remain imprinted on the building.

Dating back to 1845, the church contains plaques from World War I and a memorial with the names of 30 soldiers from the area who died in the war.

The tribute also includes details of the recipient of a Victoria Cross, the highest award in the British honors system for bravery within the Commonwealth Armed Forces. It was established by Queen Victoria in 1856.

The ‘wonderful development opportunity’ is for sale at Paul Fosh Auctions set to a minimum opening bid of £205,000.

The current owner, who bought the building from the church in Wales five years ago, put the property up for sale after deciding to move to North Wales.

“It would be nice to see someone kindly take on this great development project and turn this beautiful church into a family home along with a new, additional, aesthetically detached family home built on the church grounds,” they said.

Inside the church, which was built by the copper industrialist Grenfell family, there are also memorials with stained glass windows, depicting St. George and St. Michael.

Sean Roper, of Paul Fosh Auctions, said it is a rare opportunity for someone to “acquire a beautiful church with planning permission.”

“When the church is converted it will provide generous accommodation and include a games room, home cinema and open lounge,” Sean said.

‘The kitchen will be overlooked from an upstairs mezzanine living room.

‘The master bedroom will benefit from a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with an additional sitting area with all-glass wall with stunning views over Swansea city and the bay.’

“The detached new construction on the property will provide a garden and parking garage and full plans are available for the church and new construction within the legal package,” Sean said.

‘This great opportunity is located in the St Thomas area of the city, which is convenient for both Swansea city center and the new developments on the waterfront of SA1 and Copr Bay, including the new bullring.

‘The world famous Gower Peninsula and the Mumbles are within easy reach with good road and public transport links.’
