n The 18-month-old baby is one of four dead after a wooden stand partially collapsed in a bullfighting in central Colombia on Sunday.

Two women and one man also died at the stadium in El Espinal, Trima, where people are watching traditional bullfighting events.

Bullfighting footage showed that part of the stand had collapsed while people were screaming.

Mayor Juan Carlos Tamayo said 800 spectators were sitting in the collapsed section.

Of the hundreds of injured, four were in the intensive care unit and the other two had recovered from surgery.

Health Minister Martha Palacios said at a news conference that after the collapse, 322 people went to local public and private hospitals for treatment.

According to Palacio, the minor who died was an 18-month-old baby.

Ambulances were sent from cities near Ibagué and Melger to help the injured who overwhelmed El Espinal’s hospital, said Luis Fernando Beres, director of civil defense.

No one remained trapped in the wreckage, I added.

“We have activated Trima’s hospital network,” Governor Jose Ricardo Orosco told local Blue Radio.

“At this point, four people are dead. Two women, a man and a minor.”

Current President Ivan Duque said there would be a “terrible tragedy” investigation.

“We mourn the horrific tragedy recorded during the San Pedro and San Juan festivals at El Espinal in Trima. The stand collapsed during Coraleha. We call for an investigation.”

President-elect Gustavo Petro urged local authorities to ban such events.

“I ask the mayor not to allow any further events involving the death of humans or animals,” he said.
